4th of July homemade playdough

So I sometimes have a hard time coming up with crafty stuff to do with the kids, but homemade playdough is always a hit in our house! (recipe from domesticsuperhero.com) I will give you my favorite playdough recipe and all the steps below! We didn’t use food coloring today as I am very low, but we did add glitter.

Ingredients needed:

1 cup flour
1 cup water
2 tsp cream of tarter
1/3 cup salt
1 TBS vegetable oil
Food coloring (or glitter)

ingredients

Steps to make playdough:

In a medium saucepan, add 1 cup of flour, 2 teaspoons of cream of tarter, and 1/3 cup of salt.

Next, add 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

wet & dry

Turn your burner on medium/low and stir. Before it starts getting thick, add your food coloring or glitter and keep stirring. We added red, silver and blue glitter.

Keep stirring and scraping the bottom of the pot so that the playdough cooks evenly. Once you notice that the dough isn’t wet anymore, take it out of the pot. The whole process shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes. Let the dough cool and then knead it for a few second. Store in a ziplock bag or airtight container.

finished

Enjoy! I hope you all have a fun and safe 4th of July!
